I find this app perfect for keeping me on the Pomodoro technique. I like the way it lets me adjust the work and break times to fit my preferences. Simple, not too complicated. My only complaint is there is no volume control for the sounds. In the previous version I left the ticking sound on because it was a subtle reminder that I am timing myself so get back to work! Now the ticking sound is way too loud and very distracting. The ability to adjust the volume of each sound would be a major improvement for me.
So I pay for the app and it still asks me to rate it constantly… and the request to rate it prevents the pomodoro buzzer. Really? Drives me nuts.
Pomodoro keeps me on task and reminds me to take a break from the screen, too. It would be great for Pomodoro to launch when I start my computer, lest Facebook tempt me before I get to work!
this is really helpful, but I do wish it would integrate with OmniFocus so I could sync tasks instead of manually entering them
I don’t use it all of the time but when I do it helps me to stay on track and to refresh my energy so that I can keep the same level of intensity throughout the day.
The software, well, just works, keeping synchronized across my mac and iOS devices. I don’t have a lot of time, and manage it badly anyway, so whatever these sort of apps can do to reduce hassle is really helpful. I find the definition of tasks, starting them running, right-clicking to correct the number of “pomodoros”, having to go through a few steps to undo clicking-to-complete a given task, and so on that I’ve gone through to all be a bit more of a hassle than necessary. If only the software were as easy to use as, say, Clear, then a 5-star rating would be easy. But compared to the rest I’ve tried so far, it is relatively simple and straightforward to use. Several months after purchase, I still use it. Can’t say that about a lot of productivity software out there.
The ability to sync between desktops and mobile devices was crucial for me, and puts this app beyond the rest. But the desktop version would be *much* more useful if you could keep the display with the timer and task open, while other apps are active. Is there a way to “detach” the palette from the menu bar and keep as an open window (and maybe resizable)? (I’ve requested this feature repeatedly.)
Very useful, use it all the time. Stable and good looking
I upgraded for the simple goal of finding a less shrill alarm when sessions/breaks end. The description of the upgrade claims this feature is included, and these options do appear in the settings menu, but no matter which different sound I choose (tip: there are only 3 options), the app is still silent when I complete a pomodoro or a break. I’ve exited and restarted, etc., to no avail. Hoping I can get my money back.
I’ve tried a bunch of these and this is the one I’ve stuck with.
- Easy to use - Great pairing with phone app - Wish there was a feature to control the volume on the timer
Using this app and method has helped me to stay focused and even start projects. It also helps me quantify progress and productivity.
It’s a great app for focusing and getting into a flow at work. They also have a mobile app that pairs perfectly. Good software is worth paying for!
I’ve been looking for a good pomodoro app for a while now, and this is hands down the best one I’ve found. It’s great how it syncs between my phone and computer so I can know how many cycles I’ve completed (and I don’t have to stay tethered to one device for it to work). Definitely worth paying for. I’ve tried and discarded I don’t know how many productivity apps and styles over the years and this is the only one that’s stuck.
Significantly increased my productivity!
Update was good but now the app won’t start up immediately when the computer turns on even though I have set the setting to do so. Fix that and this would be 5 stars.
This is a great app and does what it claims to do very well. I just had one suggestion: can you please include the ability to log the times spent in each project so that if I switch projects midway through a pomodoro, 100% of the time won’t go towards the project I switched to. That is, once the pomodoro is finished, the time I spent in each project during that recently completed pomodoro will be saved (ex. 25 minutes for one project and 25 minutes for the other proejct for a 50 minute pomodoro with switching exactly midway).
Really helps to stay focused, without getting in the way. I like integration with the iPhone app.
The Pomodoro Time Pro is a great app. I recommend also picking up the iOS version as well. This way you can use it from wherever you’re at and everything is synced. Regarding syncing, it works well. I have noticed there are times where one lags behind the other by about a second - a simple fix is to logout and then back into one of the apps. One thing that needs to be addressed is after you complete a Pomodoro, I used to get a five minute break. That feature doesn’t seem to work on the Mac version. Instead, it just moves you to the next Pomodoro regardless of your settings. Otherwise, it’s a great app for helping you stay on-track.
